Happy 2014!
Quick update... I bought a wig a while ago (a great story!) and actually tried it on today for the kids without mentioning it. Sadie thought I dyed my hair. She loved it, actually, until such time when I took it off and we talked about me needing to shave my head again. We had a really open talk about what's happening and tears as well as smiles were in abundance. Her fears of something happening to me were forefront and we explained that I am doing everything within my power to be well. My doctors are doing the same.
The day ended sweetly with Sadie and Chase shaving my head, Jason evening it out(!!!!!!) and Sadie washing and massaging my head with her coconut shampoo! While I said that me being bald may not stay a secret, I would wear my cute sassy new hair as much as possible! Sadie would rather it be a secret and Chase thinks its pretty cool for the most part!

Thank you for sharing this intensely intimate and moving moment with us Ash. I can so visualize this event in my mind....you are a brave woman for so many reasons, but letting Chase & Sadie shave your head is right up there at the top of the list!!! I must add GRACE to the ever growing list of incredible adjectives that describe you and your approach to life. You give us all something to reach for. I look forward to seeing you and your sassy hair around the neighborhood. And to think you were offended when I asked the woman if she had any wigs that had a "bedhead" look! OK, maybe I should have said surfer girl beach look instead, but she got the idea. You have always been too busy living life to take time to "do" your hair...an unnecessary step for one of the most beautiful women I know! Love you to the moon and back times infinity.......mjk
